All These Things I’ve (Not) Done

Things I Said I Would Do This Year and Didn’t

  • Complete a 30 Day Challenge (and rightly so)
  • Buy books and actually read them (I still haven’t started either of these books, and I have about ten other unread books on my bookshelf. One day…)
  • Learn to do all the things a Perfect Gentleman can do (I think I can do less than I could do before!)
  • Use the dull winter season to become a super-chef (I think I may have cooked twice. I also didn’t save any money over winter)
  • Get through the A Song of Ice and Fire series before winter was over (At the moment, I am nearly finished with A Storm of Swords: Steel and Snow. It’s a pretty lame effort but I am still committed!)
  • Enrol in a postgraduate course for 2013 (There is currently no way that this is happening. As it turns out, I need honours to do a postgraduate degree, and I don’t have the marks high enough to do honours. I’d have to do a bit of work, which I would gladly do if I actually knew what I wanted to study. But I dont. So, no uni for now)
  • Join a gym (I’m the worst)
  • Make hollowed-out books for at least two of my friends
  • Make mix cds (with personalised, decorated cd cases) for a bunch of my friends (In my defense, I have been collecting magazine cut-outs and cereal boxes for the cause. I will just give them out as Christmas presents. I finished putting together the actual mix months and months ago, and it’s good. Look out, friends!)

The Con

I’d like to update and say something interesting, I really would. But the truth is I’ve been mostly working and sleeping for the past couple of weeks.

I did make the best mixtape ever though; I burnt it onto a couple of cds, and then handmade some cool cd covers. What a productive, creative day it was. I should upload the mix to Mediafire. Later. Soon. It really is awesome, I was shocked at the time.

One other amazing thing that happened recently is this: me and two of my work friends (Tevai and Libby) have booked our flights to Brisbane next month. We arrive on the 20th, leave on the 25th, and we can’t wait! I am so excited to see my friends and the city and the nice tall buildings and just everything.

Ok, I think that might be it.

Wait, I also got robbed. My accounts got hacked into and about $1000 was stolen from me. That was pretty shit.

Mixtape: Influenza

I’m sick. I don’t really know if I have the flu or not, I think it’s a bit too early to tell. That’s not what I’m claiming on Twitter though, seeing as I’m hashtagging my sickness as #kihastheflu. Ha, I bet I’ll feel better tomorrow and this entire debacle will be short-lived.

I’ve made myself a sick playlist (ha! Get it! Because I’m sick?! Shit, I’m hilarious). It’s themed, the songs aren’t necessarily about being sick, but the titles seem relevant. I like it a lot, I’m feeling a bit sorry for myself because everything hurts, but making this mixtape made me laugh. You can get it here.

Influenza Track List:

  1. Saves The Day - Diseased
  2. Stillwater - Fever Dog
  3. Phoenix - If I Ever Feel Better
  4. Takka Takka - Fever
  5. The White Stripes - Girl, You Have No Faith In Medicine
  6. Queens of the Stone Age - Sick Sick Sick
  7. The Kills - U.R.A Fever
  8. Matchbox 20 - Disease

  10. The Smiths - Still Ill
  11. Carly Simon - Haven’t Got Time For The Pain
  12. Bonobo - The Fever
  13. The Perishers - Get Well Soon
  14. Bon Jovi - Bad Medicine

Mixtape: Let’s Go Smash Out Every Light

I can only take partial credit for this. I have the albums on my computer, but iTunes Genius is the one who created this wondrous playlist. It’s based off Good Ol’ Fashion Nightmare by Matt & Kim, and it’s really worth a listen. You can download it here (hopefully, if WinRar and MediaFire did their jobs right! I’m a mixtape-sharing-virgin).

(Yes I know my cover art is lame. I never said I was an artist! Also, you’ll need to download WinRar if you don’t have it — it’s a small price to pay!)

Let’s Go Smash Out Every Light Track List:

  1. Matt & Kim - Good Ol’ Fashion Nightmare
  2. Passion Pit - Little Secrets
  3. Phoenix - Girlfriend
  4. Vampire Weekend - White Sky
  5. Miike Snow - Animal
  6. Animal Collective - Summertime Clothes
  7. Santigold - L.E.S. Artistes
  8. Passion Pit - Make Light
  9. Bon Iver - Blood Bank
  10. Ben Folds feat. Regina Spektor - You Don’t Know Me
  11. White Rabbits - Percussion Gun
  12. Matt & Kim - Lessons Learned
  13. Animal Collective - My Girls
  14. Band of Horses - Our Swords
  15. Phoenix - Lasso
  16. Does It Offend You, Yeah? - Dawn of the Dead
  17. TV On The Radio - Wolf Like Me
  18. Passion Pit - Moth’s Wings
  19. Vampire Weekend - Run
  20. Yeasayer - Ambling Alp
  21. Of Montreal - Wraith Pinned to the Mist and Other Games
  22. Band of Horses - The General Specific
